About TERRACE WATERPROOFING WITH MYK AQUA ARM SPU SPL POLYURETHANE
91 000 74051 AquaArm SPU SPL A single-component, high-performance, bitumen-free, polyurethane waterproofing coating. It is moisture-cured, meaning it reacts with humidity in the air to form a highly elastic, seamless, and durable membrane.
Primary Function: To provide a robust, flexible, and chemical-resistant waterproofing barrier for critical areas, both above and below ground, where a high-quality, non-bituminous solution is required.
Key Features & Benefits (from TDS):Bitumen-Free & High Performance: Offers superior elasticity and longevity compared to many modified-bitumen products.High Elasticity: Exceptional elongation (500%) to bridge dynamic cracks (2mm).Excellent Adhesion: Strong peel adhesion to concrete (2.0 N/mm).Durable: Resistant to hydrostatic pressure, punctures, tears, and chemical ingress.Environmentally-Friendly: Non-toxic once cured.Single Component: Ready to use; no on-site mixing required, ensuring consistent quality.
Q1: How is this different from other waterproofing coatings?A: Its key differentiator is that it is a high-performance, bitumen-free polyurethane. This gives it better elasticity, durability, and environmental credentials compared to bitumen-based or acrylic coatings. It is also single-component, unlike 2-part PU systems.Q2: What is the application process?A:Surface Prep: Concrete must be strong, smooth, clean, and dry (moisture <5%). All corners must be rounded (50mm internal, 10mm external).Priming: It is mandatory to apply FloArm Primer PUDC on the prepared surface.Application: Apply the first coat of SPU SPL. Apply the second coat after approx. 12 hours (at 28C) in a direction perpendicular to the first.Protection: The membrane must be protected with a screed or suitable covering.Q3: What is the coverage area?A: The theoretical consumption is ~1.5 kg per square meter to achieve a 1mm Dry Film Thickness (DFT). Actual consumption will depend on surface porosity and roughness.Q4: How long does it take to dry and cure?A:Surface Dry: 12 hoursFully Dry: 24 hoursRecoat Time: ~12 hours (at 28C)Water Test: Can be performed only after the membrane is fully cured.Q5: What is the shelf life and how should it be stored?A: The shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture. It has very specific storage requirements:Store in a cool, dry, moisture-free, shaded place.Transport and store the pails upside down (inverted position) to prevent skin formation.Once opened, the material must be used within 30 minutes.Q6: What are the critical limitations?A:Not root resistant.Do not apply on damp surfaces or if temperatures are below 5C.Avoid application in rain, snow, or sandstorms. The opened pack has a very short application life of 3 hours if resealed.Protect the applied membrane from direct sunlight during peak summer heat.Q7: Is it safe to use?A: Standard chemical safety precautions are necessary:The storage and work area must be well-ventilated.Operators must wear a safety helmet, gloves, and protective shoes.Avoid contact with eyes and skin.Keep aay from fire and ignition sources.
